International Students in Class

Accommodation

Options for accommodation include:

Providing top quality homestay care for international students is regarded by PEETO as being very important for the success and happiness of all students.

PEETO is linked to an official accommodation organisation, who have their own formal code of ethics and also comply with the Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

We believe that the homestay experience should be a rewarding and enjoyable time for the students. This is the best way to strengthen English Language skills, develop independence, make friends and to learn about the New Zealand lifestyle.

At PEETO arranged homestays, all students have a single room, with a bed, desk and a heater, and are provided with breakfast, lunch (a packed lunch on school days if agreed) and dinner each day. Students usually travel from their homestay to school by bus or car, bicycle or walk. It takes about 20 minutes, more or less, depending on which area you live in. Christchurch is a flat city and cycling is popular.

Both Kiwi and international counsellors do regular checks with you and your host family.

After living in a homestay for sometime, students over the age of 19 years might want to rent a flat or flat with others. Assistance is given if the student wishes to do so.
